Student resources
This section tells you about our key online destinations and resources.
- courses.whitecrane.academy: this is our online learning platform (sometimes called eLearning). Here, you will find two types of content:
- Support material and information for WCA students: handouts, documents, links and other resources relating to modules and weekend lecture sessions; and
- Online herb lectures: this content relates to Module 1: Materia medica. It can be purchased by non-WCA students but is made available free-of-charge to students enrolled on our CHM diploma course.
- casehub.whitecrane.academy: this is the WCA database of case studies that students start using in year 3 to support Module 6: Developing clinical practice.
- Online session recordings: most of our online sessions are recorded so that students can review content, or catch up if a session was missed. Links to recordings are released as they become available and sent out by email.
With all the above content, please respect personal privacy and do not share login details (username/password) with other people. We have a duty of care to maintain the security and privacy of our online estate, and maintain logs for auditing usage and investigating incidents.

Workaround for Problem with Missing Images
Background: The image storage service (Imgur) that we're using for our eLearning courses is US based. As of March 2026, Imgur has officially blocked user access from the United Kingdom. This means UK users cannot view content hosted on Imgur, including images on WCA's eLearning platform. This is a self-imposed, permanent "commercial decision" rather than a direct government ban, acting in response to potential regulatory action by the UK's Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). For further information, see the BBC article: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gzxv5gy3qo
If you already use a VPN, you will be able to overcome this problem with your VPN and access all images as usual.
If you do not already use a VPN, the following video tutorial is a suggested workaround using urban-vpn as a free browser extension. To access the free extensions page, visit: https://urban-vpn.com/free-products/free-browser-extension. At the time of writing, you do not need to pay anything for the browser extension (but expect urban-vpn to hard-sell additional VPN products - just follow the video and you'll be fine!)
My instructional video was recorded on my MacBook Air and I use the Chrome browser. You might need to choose one of the other browsers to match your setup.
Many other VPNs are available, some free, some paid-for. Please do your research if you feel that a VPN might be a useful tool for you. VPNs are particularly important for frequent travellers who use public WiFi.
